Precision Metalwork Grads In High Demand: MyFoxTWINCITIES.com

WHAT IS GreenPOWER?

As Minnesota builds a clean energy economy, we must prepare our workforce to take on this new challenge. GreenPOWER is an innovative new training program designed to provide Minnesota workers with the skills they need to succeed in the clean energy economy.

GreenPOWER training will enable a company’s employees to:

  • Increase the financial bottom-line;
  • Raise productivity;
  • Reduce waste; and
  • Promote sustainability

GreenPOWER trains current workers to bring energy efficiencies, environmental awareness, and lean production techniques to the manufacturing industry. It applies to many areas such as the construction of energy-efficient buildings or retrofitting existing structures. It will be needed in the renewable electric power industry, the advanced drive-train vehicle industry, and other manufacturing industries not traditionally considered "green.”

GreenPOWER gives workers the skills they need to get and keep good, green jobs, and it delivers employers a workforce that is more efficient, more productive and can meet the demand for green products in the clean energy economy.

The GreenPOWER curriculum is adapted to address the training needs of employers creating green jobs. An additional highlight for employers is how quickly they see their bottom lines improve after implementing energy-efficiency and environmentally-friendly techniques to their manufacturing businesses.

GreenPOWER will train an estimated 2,000 workers over the next two years in Minnesota. It was developed by the Blue Green Alliance Foundation and is supported by the Department of Labor's Energy Training Partnership Grant.

GreenPOWER TRAINING

Minnesota Teamsters Service Bureau and the Blue Green Alliance have partnered to provide GreenPOWER training - an innovative new program that results in a nationally recognized certification from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. It is offered through two programs ranging from a one-day workshop for Green Generalist to a six day program for Green Specialist.

And GreenPOWER training is free of cost. GreenPOWER is supported, in part, by a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, which allows us to offer training for your business at no cost to the worker or your business through December 2011.
